Privacy policy
Last updated: 16 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Verilove collects, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what your rights are. It covers two groups of people: customers who order a check, and people we check.
1. Who we are
Verilove is a UK-based business. We are the “controller” of the personal information described in this policy.
- Email: hello@verilove.co.uk
2. Information about customers
What we collect
- Contact details: your name, email address and, if you give it, phone number.
- Identity check: your ID document and a selfie, processed by our ID verification provider (Stripe Identity). We receive the result and the basic details needed to confirm who you are, such as your name and date of birth.
- Payment: processed by Stripe. We see the amount, date and the last four digits of your card. We never see or store your full card number.
- Order details: what you tell us about the person you want checked and your relationship with them, and your answers to our eligibility questions.
- Messages: emails and call notes between you and us.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To carry out the check you ordered and deliver your report — to perform our contract with you.
- To verify your identity and screen out misuse (for example, requests about exes or people you are not in a relationship with) — our legitimate interest in preventing harm. Where the ID check uses biometric data from your selfie, we rely on your explicit consent, which you give at the time of the check.
- To keep payment and tax records — legal obligation.
- To reply to you and deal with complaints — contract and legitimate interests.
We do not use your information for marketing unless you have opted in, and you can opt out at any time.
3. Information about people we check
If you are the person a customer asked us to check, this section is for you.
What we collect
- Details the customer gives us: your name, approximate age, the area you live in and links to profiles they already know about.
- Publicly available information: social media profiles and posts that anyone can see, dating-app profiles visible to any user of that app, and public records such as county court judgments (via the Registry Trust), the Individual Insolvency Register and Companies House.
- For a Full Check or Full Loyalty Test: any reply you send to a message from one of our reviewers, and screenshots of that conversation.
We do not hack accounts, track phones, access private messages or private records, or obtain information by pretending to be someone else to a bank, phone company, employer or similar organisation. We do not set out to collect sensitive information, such as health, religion or sexual orientation. If it appears in material we review, we leave it out of the report unless it is directly relevant to the customer’s safety.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We rely on legitimate interests: the customer’s interest in knowing whether a partner is who they say they are, and in their own safety and wellbeing. We balance this against your interests by verifying every customer, refusing requests from exes and anyone not in a relationship with you, limiting what we look at, and deleting reports after 30 days.
Why we don’t tell you about the check
The law usually requires us to tell people when we collect information about them. We don’t contact you before or during a check, because doing so would defeat its purpose. This policy is published so that the information is publicly available. You can still use all of the rights in section 7.
4. Who we share information with
We never sell personal information. We share it only with:
- The customer who ordered the check — the report and any screenshots.
- Service providers who process data on our behalf: Stripe (payments and ID verification), Google Workspace (email and file storage), and Cloudflare (website hosting).
- Our investigator partner, for Full Loyalty Tests only, under a written agreement.
- Police, courts or regulators, where the law requires it or to prevent serious harm.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by UK adequacy regulations or approved contract terms, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
6. How long we keep information
- Reports, screenshots and details about the person checked: deleted 30 days after the report is delivered.
- Customer ID check results and eligibility answers: 12 months, so we can show that we screened every order.
- Payment and tax records: 6 years, as required by HMRC.
- Emails with customers: up to 12 months after your last contact with us.
7. Your rights
Whether you are a customer or someone we checked, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything inaccurate;
- ask us to delete your information;
- object to us using your information, or ask us to restrict how we use it;
- withdraw consent, where we rely on it.
Email hello@verilove.co.uk. We will reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first, and in some cases the law lets us withhold information, for example to protect another person’s safety.
8. Security
Reports are stored in access-controlled accounts with two-factor sign-in and are only seen by the reviewer handling the order. We use providers with strong security standards.
9. Cookies
Our website does not use cookies for tracking, advertising or analytics, and doesn’t load anything from third parties. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may occasionally set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from attacks. These cookies don’t need consent and aren’t used to identify you.
10. Complaints
Please contact us first so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if anything changes and show the new date at the top.
